Sacred Foolishness in an upcoming series of one-acts, sketches and music designed to dismantle the ideology that there is a connection between identity and character type. Inspired by the New York production Miscast, this series will challenge writers to create pieces that cast under-represented actors in roles that challenge conventional stereotypes. The series will function as wish-fulfillment for the participants who get to play roles that they would never get chosen for in the outside world. The writers will be challenged to expand their creative palates as they actively redefine the concept of who is ‘right’ for what role. The tone would be equal parts playful, hopeful, irreverent and insightful. By showing glimpses of the future we strive for, we will bring healing to our community, motivating them to walk toward that light and not away from it.
