WORLD PREMIERE! Set in Pleasant Hill, North Carolina, Ms. Edwards is a deeply personal and dynamic one-woman show about Sidney Edwards, a Black woman navigating the complexities of family legacy, cultural identity, and the pursuit of personal dreams. Through the voices of her maternal and paternal grandmothers - both named "Edwards" - Sidney brings to life two powerful women whose experiences shaped the fabric of her own identity.
Through humor, storytelling, and powerful character work, Ms. Edwards invites the audience to witness the struggle between the old guard's wisdom and the new generation's dreams, all while celebrating the unique voices of Black women who have weathered storms to give their families everything they had.
It's a show for anyone who's ever had a grandmother whose love was both grounding and confusing, whose expectations sometimes felt suffocating, but whose wisdom remains undeniable. Ms. Edwards is about the complex tapestry of family, identity, and the deep love that binds us, even when we're not sure we're meant to be bound.
Performing in the Broadwater Black Box (Entrance at 6322 Santa Monica Blvd.)
