I.D.E.A. Statement

Sacred Fools Theatre is committed to creating a culture that is Inclusive, Diverse, Equitable and Accessible (IDEA). We are actively working to make and facilitate theatre that represents and respects the voices of artists from ALL backgrounds. Sacred Fools values equity, diversity and inclusion in all realms (including, ability, age, beliefs, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, race, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status). We are dedicated to presenting entertaining, educational, thought provoking, and innovative theatre that affect our audiences in ways that encourage them to embrace the unique differences and stories of every human.

Sacred Fools recognizes that, as a prominent arts institution in the City of Los Angeles, we have a responsibility to be introspective and take ownership of how our actions affect various communities, especially those that are underrepresented in the world of the arts. We also acknowledge that in the theatre world we have been complicit in past discriminations, and we are actively working to rectify these past missteps to insure they do not happen again. Our ongoing and continuous commitment to seek change and growth within our organization requires that we continue to closely evaluate and reevaluate our past, present and future actions and choices.

We acknowledge the complexities of becoming a fully inclusive and anti-racist organization, and we accept the challenge to build an organization where full and fair participation is the norm. We commit to providing fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement and to creating space for diverse voices to be heard and their stories to be shared. At Sacred Fools our doors are open to everyone.
