Mahoney (Terry Tocantins), Batts (Bryan Krasner) and Dershowitz
(Stephen Simon) love
to banter... but when their con games fall flat and leave them
broke, Batts wants out.
Batts is tired of being a fast-talking con man. He wants
to have a real job.
His pals suggest he be a bootblack... so he can life himself up
"like a
Damon Runyon character... in a Horatio Algerian manner." He's
not interested.
"Everyone
in my family has the same quirk. Until the age of 17, we
all sleep standing up. I, for some reason, never got over it."
She of the Big Shoe (Andrea Ruth) comes to him in a dream to
show him the road.
"I can see my face in it!"
"What's it look like?"
"It looks like... a bootblack."
