The Sacred Fools Theatre Company (Producer), The Sacred Fools Theater is dedicated to creating and fostering a dynamic, empowered artistic community in Los Angeles. The company is run solely by the ensembled artists. We have an ongoing commitment to the development of new plays and projects which challenge traditional expectations of the theatrical experience. Our goal is to produce work which invigorates, enlightens and entertains. We believe that theater is a popular and vital art form which inspires and transforms its audience and its members.


RUPERT HOLMES (Book, Music, Lyrics). Broadway: The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Tony award Best Musical, Tony awards to Holmes for Best Book, Music and Lyrics; identical honors from the New York Drama Desk; Outer Critics Circle Award Best Musical), Accomplice (Edgar Award, Mystery Writers of America), Solitary Confinement, Say Goodnight Gracie (Tony nomination, Best Play; National Broadway Theatre Award, Best Play; ), Curtains (book by Holmes, score by Kander and Ebb; Drama Desk Award, Best Book; Tony nomination to Holmes for Best Book, and to Kander, Ebb, and Holmes for Best Lyrics). Douglas Clayton (Director & Producer)is a director, producer, dramaturg and actor who has been working in the theatre for over fifteen years. Recent Los Angeles credits include Annie Get Your Gun, Steel Magnolias and Godspell with Marmac Repertory Theatre, The Glass Menagerie at the Colony Theatre, Two Gentlemen of Verona and Othello for Shakespeare by the Sea, and numerous original projects of varying lengths. For Sacred Fools, he has been a regular director for their Serial Killers series and Fast & Loose for the past two years. Originally from Yosemite National Park in Northern California, Doug has performed and directed all around the United States and Europe. He did his undergraduate in USC's Schools of Business and Theatre, and his graduate work at Flordia State University/The Asolo Conservatory.


Bill Newlin (Music Director), musical direction credits include the critically acclaimed Assassins (Knightsbrige Theatre), The Poseidon Adventure, The Musical! (Opiate Of The Masses), A Mulholland Christmas Carol (Theatre Of Note/Sacred Fools), and the the highly successful Master Class (the Fountain Theatre). Recent film and TV work includes music post production for King Kong, Superman Returns, Happy Feet, Fantastic Four 2, Next, and the upcoming Die Hard 4.


John Pennington (Choreographer),is artistic director of the multi-award winning Pennington Dance Group and serves on the Theater and Dance faculty at Pomona College. John is a 2007 recipient of a Backstage West Garland Award for his choreography and was also nominated for Best Choreography by the LA Weekly. He is a recipient of grants from The Princess Grace Foundation, The Durfee Foundation, California Community Foundation,The Goethe Institute and the LA County Arts Program. His career spans 14 years a dancer with the Bella Lewitzky Dance Company, creating children's education programs, choreographing for television and theater, and serving on panels and committees to further the visibility of the arts both locally and nationally.


Joel Daavid (Set Designer - Set Design Rendering) In 1993, Joel attend the prestigious American Film Institute to study Cinematography. While there he received the Blum-Kovler Scholarship and was nominated for the Kodak Scholarship in Cinematography. Joel went on to shoot feature films, short films and commercials on a freelance basis. He has completed the feature film John John In The Sky which was a winner at the Mississippi Film Festival and MethodFest and has been released on DVD. Joel is now an award winning theater designer and has designed numerous plays, musicals, ballets and operas. He was Production Designer for the recent run of August Wilson ’s Jitney at the Lillian Theater as well as In Arabia We’d All Be Kings at the Elephant Theater. Joel was nominated twice for the 2006 Ovation Award for acclaimed Bluebonnet Court at the Hudson Mainstage and the Sacred Fools production of Gorey Stories. He was awarded Best Set Design at the NAACP Theater Awards for Blues for an Alabama Sky and Bluebonnet Court and an L.A. Ovation Award and the LA Weekly Theater Award for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. He was recently awarded the Bob Z. Award for Career Achievement in Set Design by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle.


Edward Marks (Lighting Designer), is a Los Angeles born and raised Lighting Designer. He has worked for a pretty prestigious list of companies and clients including Disney, Universal, Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Toyota, Volvo and Honda. Most recently Edward did the lighting for "The Enlightenment" at the Carpenter Center in Long Beach, plus he worked with Director Doug on "Annie Get Your Gun" for the Marmac Theatre Company in Azusa. Edward has Designed Lighting for Seal, Aerosmith, John Mellencamp, Kenny Chesney, Lenny Kravitz, Mark Anthony and James Blunt. Edward also did the lighting design for the Toyota World convention in Nagoya, Japan and the McDonalds Press Events featuring Destiny¡¦s Child, Justin Timberlake, and Ashanti. Edward¡¦s international projects include being the first designer to bring American Haunted Houses to Japan, designing a series of touring shows throughout Russia including the $14 million "Star Galaxy Adventures," and lighting the world¡¦s largest Toyota Showroom in Dubai UAE. He is really most proud of his two daughters Sadie and Sydnie and his best friend, his wife Sabrina.

Sondra Mayer (Producer),hails from Chicago and received her BA in Fine Arts, Theatre, from Columbia College Chicago. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles and has worked with Sacred Fools the entire time. She has also performed at The Met Theatre Company, ACME Comedy Theatre, Arc Theatre Company, Shakespeare By The Sea, Outlaw Style Thrance Company and Repertory East Playhouse.

Sondra's other passions are writing, she has written for Sacred Fools and ACME as well as column work for Scr(i)pt Magazine online; and stage combat receiving certification as an Advanced Actor/Combatant and Actor/Combatant in Unarmed, Rapier & Dagger, Broadsword, Smallsword, Sword & Shield, and Quarterstaff ¡V which is her favorite! She also has training in Knife, Hand Guns, Shotguns, advanced Throws & Falls and some Eastern styles of Unarmed, Sword and Staff. Oddly enough, she is afraid of spiders.

Her personal passions include traveling, music, Miami Vice and Buffy:TVS on DVD and her beloved Chicago Bears. (*Please do not ask her about the 2006 Superbowl Kwe finally got her to shut up about it.)

Sondra is a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild and supports her fellow comrades of Actors Equity Association (AEA) and Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD).


Peter J. Kuo (Marketing Producer) has been producing theatre for over 9 years. Currently the PR & Marketing Manager for East West Players, he was previously the Membership Coordinator at LA Stage Alliance where he worked with LA Stage Times theatre listing and the Ovation Awards. He produced and director for a company he founded called Diversity University Irvine (D.U.I.) which produced 7 shows during the year and a half he ran the company. His major producing experience began with the Fullerton College High School Theatre Festival, organizing 2,000 highschool students over 2 days of competion with over 200 judges and 150 student volunteers. Previously he has worked with Cornerstone Theater Company, Chinatown 90210, Moving Arts and Mentorworks.


Kristina Sepulveda (Stage Manager & Producer), earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Cal State Long Beach where she studied theater and literature. There she stage managed several shows including The Last Five Years and Love Bukowski. Other stage management credits include The Underpants and Pick of the Vine at Little Fish Theater, It's A Wonderful Life, Annie Get Your Gun, and Steel Magnolias for Marmac Repertory Theater, and Romeo & Juliet at Art/Works Theater.


Ken Werther Publicity (Press Representative), Currently press associate at Center Theatre Group, KEN WERTHER began his career in public relations at Norman Lear’s Embassy Television and later served as a unit publicist at Lorimar Television. Elissa Weinzimmer (Assistant Director) graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2007 with a dual bachelors degree in Theatre and British Literature. At USC, Elissa was a founding member of TaketheStage Theatre Company, producing five productions, and directing Kander and Ebb’s Cabaret. As a performer, she has appeared in numerous plays and musicals in Los Angeles and in the San Francisco Bay Area, and is a proud alumna of the USC a cappella group Reverse Osmosis. Elissa has worked with Cornerstone Theater Company, Center Theatre Group and the Director’s Lab West, and is proud to now be working with the Sacred Fools.

C. Josephine Hagerty (Casting Director), graduated from the NYU Graduate Acting program as a Marcia Gay Harden Scholarship Recipient and has the mentor assignment of Ms. Camryn Manheim. She has been called a “Mrs. George Clooney” as she directs, acts, writes, sings, models and casts films and theatre. Her latest project this fall she will be directing a film that she wrote staring Victor Williams (King of Queens). She just acted in a movie with director Casey Stangl and is producing Susan Johnston's latest play “How Cissy Grew” in which James Denton (Desperate Housewives) and Erin O'Brien (another NYU grad actor) will play her parents as she stars as Cissy. She is also starring in an upcoming Internet series called Date Aid written by Diane Moss. Her latest modeling work can be seen in Harper Magazine's August issue.
